Origins of my "Kuroji Fusky" fursona

How I created my fox-husky character from during the pandemic that has evolved overtime

During my childhood, I grew up watching movies I've grown up, most notably The Fox And The Hound 2, the Balto trilogy, Bolt, 101 Dalmatians, and others. (Most of them are Disney movies) But I think that Bolt and Balto influenced it, well sort of... mainly since I like its pure appearance, courageous, and charismatic qualities, which makes me like them the most initially—including foxes as well!

Appearance

Kuroji is a fox-husky canine hybrid with overall blue fur, brown nose, purple eyes, and faint yellow-ish sclera with eyewear. He has highlights of both cyan tips on the ears, yellow on the cheek floof, and a pale yellow “bridge” in between the eyes and through the nose. He has outlines of yellow bands above the elbow and pale-yellow bands on the hind legs.

History and background

My first attempt at making a fursona was around 2019 when I was listening to BLACKPINK almost every single day and because of this - I tried making a fursona based on BLACKPINK's color palette on their EP Kill This Love, but this was immediately scrapped because it turned out horrible due to a lack of drawing skills. Yes, I've known about bases that I could color from, but I'm still indecisive about how the design will turn out to be at the time.

My initial goal was to make the design as minimal as possible since I might have plans to get a fursuit for it one day, and it turned out to be just what I wanted it to be! It's more of the extended animal version of myself.

When that didn't work out, so I turned to BTS' Love Yourself: Answer album, and based my fursona off of that because it has most of my favorite songs there. I've thought of having two versions of it: one was for the usual activities, for videos and whatnot; and the other is for a dance performance that will have an altered design, with vertical stars with colors but I didn't have a design laid out just yet, it's just lingering in my mind on what it would be.

During lockdown, when BTS released their studio album Map of the Soul: 7, and as a huge ARMY (or a BTS fan), I managed to listen through the entire album and loved every single track of it! I loved it so much that I've used the album cover as inspiration to make a fursona!

In addition, the yellow hint design of the floof cheeks is taken from Charm Husky, via my desktop wallpaper, it was Big Tree by Paco Panda, on the right - I thought it looked cool, and it would compliment the design from the BTS album so I added it in!

It was at the beginning of the pandemic and usually, aside from online classes, I was bored and had limited resources since I hadn't prepared for the lockdown to be declared, it was unexpected. At this time, when BTS released their studio album Map of the Soul: 7 and as a huge ARMY, I managed to listen through the entire album and loved every single track of it! I loved it so much that I've used the album cover to make a fursona!

My initial goal was to make the design as minimal as possible since I might have plans to get a fursuit (I know you don't need one but I wanted one so bad) for it one day, and it turned out to be what I wanted it to be! It's more of the extended animal version of myself.

It had a minor update in July 2021 where I changed the eyes from blue to purple to purple to signify "borahae" or "I purple you"; for context: it combines two Korean words: Violet (보라; bora) and I love you (사랑해; saranghae) - the word "borahae" has become a staple term that unites BTS and ARMY. It was coined by V (Kim Taehyung) during a fan meeting in 2016. And as to the initial definition by Taehyung himself:

Purple is the last color of the rainbow colors so it means I will trust and love you for a long time.

In terms of symbolism, the color purple is associated with individualism, royalty, and ambition. It also can boost imagination and creativity, on the other, too much purple can cause moodiness.

Originally, my fursona was a husky until I was talking to a friend of mine about the usual furry stuff and immediately had an idea to become a fox-husky hybrid; since I equally had a fascination with both foxes and huskies with both their traits after looking at some interesting facts online.

Reflection

2019 was a strange "transitional period" for me because I was in a position of being a part of a furry fandom and becoming a huge BTS ARMY.

I guess the saying is true, "Once you jimin, you can't jim-out". I equally love not just BTS but K-pop in general, I'm just a casual fan who swoons over their talent, hard work, and the positivity they're spreading. Without my love for Bangtan, my fursona would look very different.
